Winter 2015 Kit Club Reveal

Our Third Crochet Kit Club Featured:

Part Three CoverPart Three of the fictional story by C. Jane Reid, Unraveling: The New World, is the third and final part, telling the conclusion of the story of Ailee Donaghue, a young Scots-Irish woman building a life in the new world. All 3 parts of Ailee’s story will be available together in one novel in late February 2016! The end of the story, however, is merely the beginning of the Unraveling series. Ailee’s full story is now a novel, The Secret Stitch, available on Ebook now, and print version coming very soon! The series will continue in the first kit of 2016 and will feature a friend Ailee believes lost to her.

Grahame’s Gorget, designed by Laurinda Reddig, is the culminating piece Ailee has been working toward since the beginning of the series. Worked with super bulky yarn on a P hook, this cowl is dense and warm, but even more important, it offers protection against the strange creatures lurking in the dark woods of Ailee’s new home. The pattern works up quickly so no time will be lost in granting your loved ones warmth and protection during the fierce winter months. Pattern is now available on Ravelry!

One skein of Super Bulky Weight Dredz Yarn (approx. 8 ounces/130 yds) from Abstract Fibers.  This very softly spun bulky weight yarn is made with plush 20.5 micron merino, and hand-dyed in gorgeous tonal colors of Cascade (blue) or Mousse (brown) in honor of the water Ailee has traveled over to reach her final home and the soil she works to grow a new life there.

In addition to the awesome hand-carved P hooks from Craftwich Creations for the limited Deluxe Kits, we also offered Handmade Leather Closures, straps with brass-colored buckles, to use with Grahame’s Gorget. Each strap was hand cut and riveted on to the buckle, and a pair of straps will hold the cowl in place.

As a bonus, each kit also included the pattern to Beacham’s Cowl. Since the beginning of her journey, Ailee has strived to learn how to make the strange scarf the ship’s cook, Beacham, wore while on deck. The pattern to Beacham’s Cowl is the missing piece to the story that makes Grahame’s Gorget possible. A postcard was included with each kit that included images of the cowl and direction for making one of your very own.
